Demand for fresh peppers at retail remains very strong, said Ray Mastronardi, vice president of sales for Del Fresco Pure.
Shoppers are looking for produce that’s versatile, colorful, and nutritious, he said — and peppers check every box.
“They’re a go-to for families, meal preppers, and anyone who wants more vegetables in their diet. The snacking trend has also played a major role, with mini peppers becoming a top choice for healthy, convenient eating.”
In 2025, snacking and specialty peppers remain a major focus for Del Fresco Pure, as they’ve become a favorite for families looking for healthy, on-the-go options.
Del Fresco Pure’s greenhouse program ensures the consistency, quality, and taste shoppers can count on year-round, Mastronardi said.
And the company’s varietal mix of peppers has evolved alongside consumer preferences. While traditional bell peppers remain a staple, for instance, Del Fresco Pure has seen strong growth in its Sweetreats Mini Sweet Peppers. And the company has invested in R&D to develop varieties with unique flavor profiles and vibrant appearance, creating a portfolio that works for both everyday meals and special occasions.
“It’s about giving shoppers more reasons to add peppers to their basket,” Mastronardi said. Sustainability and consumer inspiration are big focuses for Del Fresco Pure, he added. The company is always looking for new packaging innovations that reduce plastic while keeping its peppers fresh and appealing on shelf.
And on the marketing side, Del Fresco Pure is leaning into lifestyle storytelling — from grilling season campaigns to content creator collaborations — to show shoppers the many ways peppers can fit into their day.
